Nina Anderson |

Ms. Nina Anderson teaches chorus and voice. She received her BA degree from Virginia Union University and has been involved in a graduate program for her master's degree at Virginia State University. Ms. Anderson is a member of the Richmond Education Association, the Virginia Education Association, the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority,and the Music Educators Professional Association. During the summer of 1998, Ms. Anderson had a singing role in the Barksdale Theatre's production of Inherit the Wind. Ms. Anderson has also performed many times in the Richmond Parks and Recreation production of Amahl and the Night Visitors. In November, 1998, Ms. Anderson was invited by the Petersburg Club of the National Association of Negro Business and Professional Women's Club, Inc. to serve as one of three adjudicators for their first Leontyne Price Vocal Arts Competition at Virginia State University. Ms. Anderson was also George Wythe's nominee for the REB Award. Ms. Anderson is currently organizing a female vocal ensemble. The group of 17 young ladies will perform all varieties of music from madrigal to pop. She is also working on a spring musical talent project with the Youth Committee Chairman of the Continentals. Ms. Anderson has been teaching vocal music at George Wythe since 1982. She also teaches vocal music at Richmond Community High School. During her tenure at Wythe, Ms. Anderson has chaired and/or served on the following committees: Audition Committee, Arts Student Orientation Committee, Arts Parent Luncheon Committee, Arts Parent Meetings Committee, Acart'n'me Awards Committee, Homecoming Committee, and That Great Big Arts Thing Committee. She has conducted the Elementary All-City Choir, the Richmond City Schools Staff Convocation Choir, and the Richmond City Schools Senior Baccaulaureat Choir. In her spare time, Ms. Anderson enjoys arranging choral music, floral gardening, bowling, and cooking. |
