Kristopher C. Tyler

Class of 2001

KRISTOPHER C. TYLER is a newcomer to the George Wythe High School of the Arts Drama Team. He became involved with the group this past summer when he was chosen to participate in Richmond City Works, a theatrical training program organized by drama director Derome Smith to provide inner city youth alternative educational experiences and creative outlets through the performing arts. Kris auditioned for, and won the lead role of Shomari Kress in the director/students' original production of Picture Me Rollin'.

Kris is extremely proud of the Drama Team's most recent accomplishment: winning the state championship against 41 other high schools in the Virginia Theatre Association's competition which was held in Norfolk, VA in November 1998. For his outstanding performance as the lead character in Sugar in the Raw, the award-winning original production, Kris was named to the Association's All Star Cast.

Among the other school activities in which Kris is involved are: band, Male Ensemble, Key Club, Life Smarts, Drill Team, and Rifle Team. Kris is also a member of the Track Team and the Wrestling Team. Recently, you will find Kris in the midilab and piano lab working on his musical skills. He has been working on Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata, and Pachebel's Canon in D.... and many other piano classics. This young man is versatile, and plans to prove it, and no one will stop him! At GWHSOTA we like that attitude. Kris' mom is also an involved parent at GWHSOTA. And we like that, too. Is there a lesson here?

Keep it up, Kris, and Mom.....

An Honor Roll student, Kris' goals and ambitions are to go to college and become a successful computer mechanic.
