
William L. Campbell
Class of 1999
WILLIAM L. CAMPBELL
is an outstanding member of George Wythe High School of the Arts' instrumental music program. He is a member of the Marching Band, the Concert Band, the Jazz Ensemble, and the Pep Band. William also serves as Band Council President. Mr. Lawrence Hall is the school's band director.
In his four years at Wythe, William has been involved in numerous band performances, parades, and competitions. He is extremely proud to have received the school's Outstanding Musician Award for four years in a row. Among his many other honors are the following: All City Band (1996 - 1999), Superior Rating in Solo Ensemble Competition (Spotsylvania High School 1996 - 1997 and 1997 - 1998), Alternate Chair [trumpet] in District Competition (1996 - 1999), and Alternate Chair for the Greater Richmond Wind Ensemble.
William is especially proud of the Superior Rating he and fellow Jazz Band members won in international competition in Toronto, Canada in May 1997, and to have been nominated for the 1997-1998 Governor's School.
William plans to attend Old Dominion University in the fall. There, he will major in computer sciences/information systems and will play in the University's orchestra. William is President of the Class of 1999.
