MISSION: The mission of George Wythes Library Media Program is to ensure that students and staff are effective users of ideas and information. |
The Media Specialists' goals are: To assist students in the development of critical thinking skills necessary to access, evaluate, and utilize information. To be an integral part of the instructional program.

The Collection The media centers collection consists of approximately 9,500 books, 38 magazines and 3 newspaper subscriptions. Students also have access to a variety of on-line resources including: Encyclopedia Britannica and Newsbank. |
Media Center Policies |

The Media Center is open from 7:05 a.m. to 2:15 p.m. Students may come before or after school without a pass to check out or return materials, to read, or to do research. Students may use the center during their lunch period providing they have a pass from their second block teacher. During the school day, students may come to the center providing they have a pass from their classroom teacher. No teacher should send more than five students at a time. Students entering the center must sign in and state their name, the time they entered the center, the teacher who sent them and the assigned work. Students may borrow books for a two- week period with the option to renew book for another two weeks. Only two books at a time can be checked-out. Students must have their school issued ID to check out books. Students with overdue materials will not be allowed to borrow additional items or use the computers in the media center until the items have been returned or paid for. |
Use of Computers:
During class hours, the computers in the media center are to be used for educational purposes only. All RPS Internet policies are posted and will be enforced. Students who do not adhere to these rules will lose computer privileges.
Copies are 10 cents a page for the copy machine and the computers.
