DEPARTMENT PERSONNEL

The instructional staff is composed of two retired Army instructors:LTC (Ret) Guthrie H. Ashton, Jr. -- Senior Army Instructor (SAI)SFC (Ret) Joseph A. Brown -- Assistant Instructor (AI)

 

PURPOSE

The JROTC Program prepares high school students for responsible leadership roles while making them aware of their rights, responsibilities and privilege as American citizens. The program is a stimulus for promoting graduation from high school.

MISSION: "TO MOTIVATE YOUNG PEOPLE TO BE BETTER CITIZENS"

 

SCOPE

The JROTC Program is a cooperative effort on the part of the US Army and Richmond Public Schools to provide secondary school students opportunities for total development. The flexibility of the program allows it to bear the scrutiny of professional educators and meet the needs of the community.

COURSE SUMMARY

The Program of instructions consists of 182 hours each school year. Some of the subjects taught are:
